TEMT at IIMB obtains ISO 14083 certification for accurate quantification of transport emissions

The TCI-IIMB Supply Chain Sustainability Lab at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), established in collaboration with Transport Corporation of India Limited (TCI), has become India’s first Transport Emissions Measurement Tool (TEMT). ISO 14083 certification.

ISO 14083, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), provides a global standard for quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from transportation operations. It covers fuel combustion and electricity consumption and applies to road, rail, air, sea, and inland waterway transport.

“This certification underscores the platform’s ability to accurately measure and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from freight activities, helping organizations measure, manage and ultimately reduce their transportation-related emissions in line with regulatory requirements and sustainability goals,” said a. Press release issued by IMB.

TEMT will help organizations quantify and accurately report emissions, leading to effective emission reduction strategies with its proven emission factors across multiple transport modes.

“NICDC Logistics Data Services Limited (NLDSL), a subsidiary of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) under the Department of Industry and Domestic Trade Promotion (DPIIT) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has integrated the ISO 14083 emission factor API. Its flagship program, the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP). This integration enables users to calculate emissions from freight activities, promoting transparency and sustainability in logistics operations,” the press release states.
