Kerala senior NCP leader and state forest minister AK Sasendran on Wednesday (Dec 18, 2024) dismissed media reports about the party’s lone ministerial reshuffle in the Left government and clarified that there is no obstruction for party MLA Thomas K Thomas. to be part of the Kerala Cabinet instead of him.

Mr. Sasendran told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram that he had already made his stand on the matter clear and conveyed his mind to the party’s state and central leadership after discussing the matter two months ago.
The minister’s reaction comes amid speculation about Mr. Thomas, who represents the Kuttanad constituency,’s recent meeting with NCP national president Sharad Pawar in New Delhi.
“Now there is no discussion in the CPN on the issue of ministerial change. As the leader of the provincial CPN parliamentary party, Mr. Thomas has the right to meet the national president and discuss with him,” said Mr. Sasendran. .
The minister also said that his action was not a violation of party discipline or an anti-party move.
Mr. Sasendran, however, said he did not know the details of the personal conversation between Mr. Pawar and Mr. Thomas.
“I am not against Mr. Thomas becoming a minister. I have no objection to that. But I am particular about one thing, the party should be represented in the state government,” he added.
Thomas has denied talks over Sasendran
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Thomas also denied media reports that he had met Mr. Pawar to discuss the removal of Mr. Sasendran from the state cabinet.
“I went to Delhi and met Mr. Pawar after the recent state committee meeting as per his instructions. There was no such discussion. I met him and returned,” he said.
He said that the national leadership of the party will take the final decision on the reshuffle of the Provincial Council of Ministers of the CPN.
