The Indian Navy’s state-of-the-art hydrographic survey ship, INS Director, will be commissioned at the Naval Dockyard today.

Union Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth will be the chief guest at the event held at the Naval Dockyard.

INS Director is equipped with state-of-the-art hydrographic survey technologies including Multi-Beam Echo Sounder (MBES), an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and advanced communication systems that facilitate seamless communication with allied nations.

These enhanced capabilities position INS Nirdeshak as a key asset to deliver substantially improved and enhanced hydrographic data featuring high precision, enhanced resolution, standardization and quality assurance that meet IHO’s rigorous benchmarks and standards that contribute to global maritime security and cooperative engagement. . INS Nirdeshak’s enhanced long-term endurance capabilities will increase its operational reach, enabling the ship to access and operate in the strategic and remote waters around the Indian Ocean region and the Maldives, Seychelles, etc. to meet the hydrographic needs of these island nations. .
