IMD predicts good weather conditions for Telangana

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a gradual rise in minimum temperatures across Hyderabad and Telangana, bringing some relief from the prevailing winter chill. From a low of 13°C expected on December 18, the nighttime temperature is likely to reach a steady 19°C by December 23, a marked improvement after days of cold conditions.

Currently, several districts of Telangana, including Adilabad, Kumuram Bhim, Nirmal, and Mancherial, are reeling under cold wave-like conditions, with temperatures dropping to 5 degrees Celsius in isolated areas.

The IMD has issued advisories especially to the residents of these cold districts asking them to take precautions in the morning and evening. While Hyderabad has been relatively warm compared to northern districts, its night-time temperatures have hovered between 14°C and 16°C in recent days, leading to freezing temperatures in the late hours and early mornings.

The forecast for Hyderabad indicates a stable temperature trend, as the northerly winds currently affecting the state are expected to reduce in intensity. A typical December breeze has brought a sharp drop in temperature in the region. However, as cloud cover increases and weather systems stabilize, minimum temperatures are improving.

Daytime weather in Hyderabad will remain pleasant, with maximum temperatures expected to remain stable between 30 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees Celsius throughout the week, the IMD said.

In districts experiencing severe inundation, residents have reported restricting outdoor activities during the cold hours, particularly affecting farmers and those engaged in morning work. Health officials have advised the elderly, children and those with chronic conditions to stay indoors and avoid exposure to sudden cold air. In urban centers like Hyderabad, where the chill has eased, morning routines have slowed down, the seasonal drop in temperature has taken its toll on daily life.

According to meteorologists, the possible rise in minimum temperatures is part of the natural weather cycle, where early December is often bitterly cold, followed by milder conditions towards the end of the year.

For Hyderabad, the improvement expected from mid-December will bring relief to residents after the recent cold nights. The IMD has predicted a minimum temperature of close to 19 degrees Celsius by December 23, a significant increase from the current lows.

While caution is still urged in colder districts, the overall outlook for the state indicates that weather conditions will ease in the next few days. For Hyderabadis, the slight temperature will ensure more comfortable nights and mornings, bringing a sense of seasonal relief as the city heads into the holiday season.
