Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) received the highest monthly passenger traffic in November, crossing the 2.5 million mark. According to the monthly traffic report released by GMR Airports Limited, RGIA handled a total of 25.31 lakh passengers, reflecting 1% month-on-month (MoM) growth and 25% year-on-year (YoY) growth.
The airport also recorded 16,667 aircraft movements in November, down 5 percent from the previous month and up 15 percent from the same period last year. In total passenger traffic, domestic passengers contributed significantly, accounting for 2.1 million passengers, the highest number ever. The busiest day for RGIA was November 10, when it handled around 89,000 passengers in a day, according to the report.
In the current financial year, RGIA has recorded a total passenger traffic of 1.8 crore, representing a 15% year-on-year growth. By comparison, the airport is expected to handle 2.5 million passengers in FY2024. There has also been a steady increase in aircraft movements in the current financial year, with RGIA recording 1.29 lakh movements so far, a year-on-year growth of 14%. For the entire financial year 2024, the airport handled a total of 1.73 lakh aircraft.
