Vijayawada: Tiruvuru MLA Kolikpudi Srinivasa Rao, known for his unpredictable actions, grabbed attention once again by cracking down on illegal belt shops selling liquor in Tiruvuru town on Tuesday.
Srinivasa Rao forced the owners of four wine shops in the city to shut down their businesses, accusing them of illegally selling liquor through cool drink outlets, stationery stores and other places opened in Tiruvuru town and constituency.
The MLA said that these four wine shops are located in residential colonies and near schools and places of worship. Stating that the common people are being greatly inconvenienced, he asked the locals to inform them immediately if these wine shops are opened.
Further, Srinivasa Rao issued a deadline of 48 hours to the excise department officials to cancel the licenses of four wine shops in Tiruvuru. He directed the excise officials to take action against 130 belt shops operating illegally in his constituency, including 43 from Tiruvuru mandal.
