It has been emphasized in the instructions that the teachers who went on strike without taking leave in advance had an adverse effect on the education of the students.

In a written order, Punjab School Education Secretary Kamal Kishore Yadav said: “It has come to the notice of the undersigned that the employees of the Education Department are not performing their duties and are deviating from their duties under the pretext of participating in the agitation… This has affected the education of the students, hampering the normal functioning of the school. has arrived.”

The order further warned: “Employees who do not perform their duties without sanctioning leave are directed not to be paid for the days of unauthorized absence. The rule of ‘no work, no pay’ will be strictly enforced. The concerned controlling authorities and DDOs should ensure compliance; Otherwise, they will be responsible for causing damage to the state exchequer.”

The directive is seen as a strong response to the recent protests by the teachers’ union over various demands, including regularization of employment and revision of pay scales.
