Belagavi: MB Patil, Minister of Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, said that the Department of Infrastructure Development has given IDECK (Infrastructure Development Corporation of Karnataka) the responsibility to study the proposal to build a second international airport for Bangalore and submit a report.
Responding to a starred question by MLC TN Jawrai Gowda in the Legislative Assembly today, the minister said the study considers several factors including connectivity, distance and travel time to reach the users of the proposed airport through road, rail and metro. Airports, wide land availability, land types, low population density areas and access to water resources.
Patil added that a detailed study is being done to identify potential sites that meet these criteria. After the completion of the study, a project report or proposal for the new airport will be prepared and reviewed.
