The Telangana High Court has directed the police to return Kaushik Reddy’s mobile phone

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court Justice B Vijayasena Reddy directed the Station House Officer of Masab Tank Police Station to return Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy’s mobile phone, which was forcibly taken from him on December 5, 2024. The court also directed the police. If the police want to keep the mobile phone for investigation, they will issue a notification to the applicant according to the confiscation procedure.

The judge was hearing a petition filed by Kaushik Reddy, aggrieved by the seizure of his mobile phone by the Masab Tank police without following any procedure regarding confiscation of electronic devices.

Senior Advocate Gandramohan Rao, who appeared on behalf of the petitioner, informed the court that 50 policemen forcibly entered the petitioner’s house on December 5, 2024 at 8 am due to political rivalry. Only for the purpose of harassing the petitioner, the police rejected his mobile phone application and registered an FIR against him.

Government lawyer Palle Nageshwar Rao informed that the mobile phone was sent for analysis saying that the mobile phone was with FSL as the petitioner was accused of conspiring against the government.

The public prosecutor informed the court that the petitioner and his followers had taken away the police officer’s mobile phone saying that the petitioner and his followers had behaved indecently at the police station and had further hindered the police officer from performing his duty.
