‘Truth-tellers threatened with impeachment’: Yogi backs HC judge, VP | Lucknow News

Underscoring the need for a uniform civil code in India, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday supported the statement of Allahabad High Court Judge Shekhar Kumar Yadav, who recently ruled against the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Advocated for UCC in the event.

Addressing the ‘Vishwa Hindu Economic Forum 2024’ in Mumbai, Chief Minister Adityanath pointed out that the opposition has filed an impeachment notice against the judge to express his views.

They (the opposition) call themselves democratic. They walk with the constitution but they are not ashamed. These are the strangleholds of the Constitution,’ said the Chief Minister.

He said the opposition was “trying to intimidate people who speak the truth, including judges, who expose social realities through cultural and social organizations”. “Such suppressors of truth should be exposed before society,” the chief minister said.

He said that the country should move forward from the division of majority and minority. “In many nations, social systems correspond to the sentiments of the majority of the population. Similarly, in India, the majority is advocating to remove such differences, but some groups are opposing this idea by forcing and silencing the voice of truth,’ he said.

Criticizing these groups for “undermining the constitution and trying to dictate the system of the country by force”, Adityanath said the nation is observing these actions and there is a need to expose such behavior.

He accused the Congress-led opposition of “hypocrisy”, after they filed a motion against Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is also the Rajya Sabha Speaker. Accusing the opposition of ‘practicing double standards’, he claimed to ‘follow the constitution’ and said that he was trying to silence ‘those who speak the truth’ by threatening impeachment.

He also accused some Congress leaders of rejecting India’s identity and trying to undermine the country’s rich culture, traditions, language and role of women in society. He said, “Such people are constantly working to diminish India’s pride and heritage.”

Referring to epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata, CM Yogi said Maharishi Ved Vyas was not associated with RSS or BJP. Taking a jibe at Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, he said, “High intellectuals like him can even claim to have attended Ved Vyas RSS meetings.”

“As long as such people are active, such attempts to malign India’s heritage will continue,” he said.

The Chief Minister praised Vice President Dhankhar for effectively managing the Parliament and maintaining constitutional dignity. He said Dhankhar’s rise on merit and merit had ‘confused’ the opposition. “They cannot accept how a farmer’s son achieved such a position, it once belonged to a special family.”

Declaring that it is the “New Uttar Pradesh of New India”, the CM said the state’s GDP, which was Rs 12.5 crore to Rs 13 crore from 2012 to 2017, is set to touch Rs 32 lakh crore by March 2025.

Criticizing the flawed policies of previous governments, Adityanath recalled an incident in 2007 when former finance minister P Chidambaram visited Uttar Pradesh. He said, “At the launch of his book ‘An Outsider’s View: Why Good Economics Works for All’, Chidambaram said that India was never a rich nation and was still facing poverty. He called India a ‘land of milk and honey’ or a ‘bird of gold.’ ‘ also suggested to burn the books describing it.

“What can be expected from such ideological leaders who insult India’s heritage by calling Lord Ram and Krishna as myths,” he said.

Outlining the reforms that will “reshape Uttar Pradesh’s identity and economy”, he emphasized that UP’s share in the nation’s GDP has increased to 9.2%, and the state has “moved from being the 10th largest economy in the country to the leading position”.

“Unique products from 57 of UP’s 75 districts are now globally recognized, contributing to exports worth Rs 2 lakh crore annually. The second Global Investors Summit attracted investment proposals worth Rs 4 lakh crore,” he said.
