First announced at Reliance’s 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Jio has started rolling out 100 GB of cloud storage––free––to all its customers as part of the Jio AI Cloud Welcome Offer. Jio prepaid and postpaid users can now avail 100 GB of free cloud storage with a host of AI features through the JioCloud app, available for Android and iOS devices, and also on the web.
JioCloud which offers 5 GB cloud storage is upgraded to 100 GB at no extra cost as a welcome offer. However, this means that in future, users may have to pay a subscription fee to continue using JioCloud services.
This is a big move by Reliance, which makes JioCloud a better online content storage platform than Google Drive which offers 15 GB free cloud storage, Apple iCloud which offers 5 GB free cloud storage and Microsoft OneDrive which offers 5 GB. Free cloud storage per account. For 100 GB of cloud storage, Google charges Rs 130 per month or Rs 1,300 per year. Apple charges Rs 219 per month for 200 GB of cloud storage.
How to Redeem Jio AI Cloud Welcome Offer
To redeem Jio AI Cloud welcome offer, make sure you have the latest version of MyJio app. As soon as you open the app, a pop-up will appear highlighting the offer. If you can’t find that, there will be a banner that says “100 GB Cloud Storage”. Click on that and your JioCloud account will get 100 GB storage space. To get the most out of it, users need to download the free JioCloud app.
JioCloud, like Google Drive or Apple iCloud, can be used to store images, audio, video, and digital documents. The JioCloud app also gets access to DigiLocker, where one can store government issued documents like driver’s license, Aadhaar and other documents as well. Like any other cloud storage platform, data stored on JioCloud can be shared with friends and family when needed, and these files can be accessed securely on almost any device.
JioCloud is also an AI playground
JioCloud also has several native AI capabilities, including an AI document scanner that can automatically scan documents and store them in digital format. There is also an AI background remover tool that can remove the background of any image.
For now, GeoCloud has a clear advantage over any other cloud storage providers in India. However, the only caveat of this platform is the future subscription fee. As the company hasn’t announced how much it will charge, think before you use it, it will be challenging to migrate data to another platform later.
