Four passengers were killed and 24 others injured when a truck and a state transport bus collided near Madhya Maharashtra’s Jalna town on Saturday, an official said.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus carrying 60 passengers was traveling from Malegaon to Mahurgad when the accident occurred at Nawa Road area around 4 pm, he said.
The bus collided with a truck, which passengers claimed was being driven recklessly. The impact was so severe that both the vehicles were badly mangled and some occupants of the bus had to be pulled out by locals, officials said.
He said four people on the bus died and 24 were injured in the accident.
The injured passenger was taken to the District Government Hospital, Jalna. He said that three of them are in serious condition.
Passengers claimed that the truck driver was drunk. The driver, who is not identified, has been detained by the police.
