Delhi BJP president Birendra Sachdeva, in a letter to AAP leader and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, sought to poke holes in the party’s recently announced Chief Minister Mahila Samman scheme in Delhi.
Sachdeva alleged that AAP national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier promised monthly allowance to women in Punjab and was now doing the same in Delhi to “get women’s votes”.
“However, before deluding the women of Delhi, they seem to have forgotten that their Punjab government has not started the promised monthly allowance even after almost three years,” he said.
“I have today written to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann, drawing his attention to the five guarantees that AAP has given to the people of Punjab before the February 2022 elections. One important promise… was a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 to all women,” he said.
Sachdeva asked Mann to provide a “clear answer” on whether the Punjab government is distributing the Rs 1,000 monthly allowance as promised, what it is called and when it was last distributed.
In response, AAP said in a statement, “BJP has clearly copied Punjab’s plans in other states, perhaps they should learn how to draft policies first…”
“We are only medieval, and we have already provided more than 800 mohalla clinics, free electricity and quality healthcare. Every promise is being fulfilled… and by the end of our tenure we will fulfill every commitment we have made,” he added.
