Busy evening for CM Bhupendra Patel in Surat: 2 mass weddings, jewelery exhibition | Ahmedabad news

Two mass wedding events and Rootz 2024, a gems and jewelery exhibition organized by the Surat Jewelery Manufacturers Association (SJMA): A packed evening was scheduled after Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel arrived in Surat on Saturday.

Accompanied by Gujarat Education Minister Praful Panseria, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and several other dignitaries, the Chief Minister first reached Abram where he attended a mass marriage program organized by the PP Sawani Group of Schools for daughters of single parents.

Thousands of people participated in the mega event. This is the 16th edition organized by Savani Trust. In the last 16 years, marriages of more than 5,000 women who are daughters of single parents have been arranged. “The special act of marrying off fatherless daughters reflects a unique sensitivity”, the Chief Minister emphasized and congratulated Maheshbhai Sawani of the PP Sawani Group.

He said, ‘It is human nature to earn and spend for oneself, but this unique culture of the Savani family, which uses its wealth for social service, has exposed the tradition of philanthropy.

“Maheshbhai is the ‘Father of Fathers and Daughters’, and this has become his identity. Not only this, the distribution of 50,000 Tulsi plants in the program also showed a noble sense of environmental protection along with social work,” the Chief Minister emphasized.

CM Patel and his cabinet ministers then reached Godadara region where Surat Ahir Samaj Seva Samiti organized a mass marriage program of 189 couples from different parts of the state. The organizers said that they want to spread the message that people from rich families can also participate in the mass wedding program, adding that many of the participants could have had a grand wedding but opted for frugality. This was the 31st edition of the mass wedding ceremony organized by the Ahir community in Surat.

The Chief Minister said that the Ahir community has a glorious history. “The community is moving forward in many areas. The government is with them wherever they need them. Mass marriage is a festival of unity,’ he emphasized that it can be used for education and health instead of savings. He asked the newlyweds to take a pledge to plant a tree in their mother’s name on their birthday or other occasions in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message.

He later participated in Rootz 2024, which started on Saturday. President of Surat Jewelery Manufacturing Association (SJMA) Jayanthi Sawalia said, “We have registered jewelery not only in India but also abroad. Currently we have registered 2 thousand people online. At a time when the diamond industry is going through a difficult situation, such exhibitions will help the industry to do more business.”

He added, “The main objective of this exhibition is to provide a global platform to the jewelery manufacturing industry. This exhibition will provide a huge business opportunity for the industry.”
