A Border Security Force jawan was injured when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Sunday, police said.
Kanker Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Ilesela said that at around 9.30 in the morning, a team of security personnel went out on the road of Hetarkasa village near Panidobir camp for area control operation.
During the patrol, the BSF team discovered a bomb planted by Maoists, he said.
When the IED was being defused, it exploded, causing minor injuries to BSF jawan B Ishwar Rao on his hand and face, he said.
SP said that the injured jawan is undergoing initial treatment and has been taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Raipur at around 1.30 am on Sunday on a two-day visit to the state. He will participate in the program to be held in Raipur and Bastar districts.
