Bochum’s goalkeeper was hit in the head by an object thrown from the stands at Union Berlin and both Bundesliga teams left the field on Saturday.
Patrick Drews was hit by an object the size and shape of a cigarette lighter as he prepared to take a goal kick to tie the game at 1-1 in added time. He sat down and was treated.
The referee suspended the game and removed both teams from the field.
After about 25 minutes, play resumed and striker Philipp Hoffmann was replaced by Drews. But both teams agreed not to try to score and run the clock down.
Players passed the ball around the field, walked and chatted with opponents while waiting for the referee to announce the end of the game.
Bochum had already been substituted at three different points in the game, meaning it was not possible to replace Druze with another goalkeeper. Bochum finished the match with nine players due to Drews’ absence and earlier red card.
Union was 12th and Bochum last in the 18-team Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich lost a Bundesliga game for the first time in coach Vincent Kompany’s tenure, paying the price for defensive mistakes and the absence of Harry Kane, losing 2-1 at Mainz on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Union Berlin and Bochum played out a 1-1 draw without attacking after an object thrown from the stands hit the Bochum goalkeeper.
Bayern struggled to create scoring chances after Kane was injured, with Lee Jae-sung giving Mainz a two-goal lead. In the 87th minute, Leroy Sane scored on a rebound to give Bayern hope of a comeback, but Kompany’s team failed to score a second goal.
Bayern’s lead has fallen by four points over last season’s champions Bayer Leverkusen.
