Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister EVKS Elangovan died of age-related ailments at a private hospital here on Saturday, the hospital said.
He was 75.
The Erode East Constituency MLA has been unwell for over a month. He was admitted to the hospital here on November 11.
“Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he died today,” the hospital said. TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai termed Elangovan’s demise as a “huge loss”.
He said, “He was an outspoken person and his death is an irreparable loss to his family and Congress party and to me personally”.
