ED team attacked on offshore casino ship in Goa; Staff Book India news

A team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was allegedly assaulted by employees of an offshore casino ship in Goa, police said on Saturday.

Police on Friday registered a case against the director, two senior employees of Cruise Casino Pride and some others for the December 12 incident, an official said.

According to a complaint filed at Panaji police station, the offshore casino ship staff allegedly beat up ED Assistant Director Poluri Chenna Keshwa Rao and his team and locked them in a room while they were searching the premises on Thursday afternoon. The officer said.

He said casino director Ashok Wadia, senior staff Gopal Ramnath Naik, Aarti Raja and some others were involved in the attack.

The accused threatened to hurt the complainant and his team and wrongfully confined them in a room while performing legal duties in their official capacity, a Goa Police spokesperson said.

He said the ED has also charged the casino directors and employees with destroying evidence collected during their search at the casino in connection with the money laundering case.
