Apple CEO Tim Cook will meet with Trump on Friday Technology News

Apple CEO Tim Cook will meet with President-elect Donald Trump on Friday night at the US president-elect’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Business leaders have tried to build a positive relationship with Trump since his election victory in November.

Meta Platform and Amazon each donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund. Bank of America, America’s second-largest lender, also plans to contribute to Trump’s inaugural committee, but the amount has yet to be decided.

Trump will take office in January. He said he received a call from Cook in October when he was running for the White House about financial penalties imposed on the iPhone maker by the European Union.

European regulators have launched a series of investigations into big tech firms in recent years, with the aim of curbing their power and ensuring a level playing field for smaller rivals. The US Department of Justice has accused the iPhone maker of illegally dominating the smartphone market.

Trump’s team and Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The New York Times previously reported on the Trump-Cook meeting.
