Days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked the Delhi Police to crack down on cases of extortion and gun violence, the Union Home Secretary has given special assignments to all CP-rank officers in the capital. A special CP recently visited a police station in South Delhi and asked the SHO how many records he kept there. The SHO said 26, but the correct answer was 25. Mocking him, the Special CP immediately asked the SHO to come to his office and show him “Registration No. 26”.

One after another, the United Nations International Environment Conference has kept the officials of the Ministry of Environment busy. A biennial conference on biodiversity began in Cali, Colombia in October, followed by a major climate negotiation conference in Baku, Azerbaijan in mid-November. Some members of the Baku delegation then traveled to Busan, South Korea for talks on the development of the Global Plastics Treaty. Now Riyadh is hosting a biennial conference against desertification, which will be attended by Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav.
