Three people were killed in a powerful explosion in Khairtala village of West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Sunday night. Due to the explosion at around 10 o’clock in the night, the roof of the house collapsed and the garbage was scattered all over the house causing great damage.
The injured Mamun Molla, Sagirul Sarkar and Mustaqin Shaikh were rushed to the local hospital but were declared dead on arrival. All three are residents of the village.
A bomb squad thoroughly checked the area for other possible explosives, officials said. Although the initial investigation showed that the blast may have been accidental and due to the wrong use of explosives, the family of the deceased claimed that a bomb had hit the house.
The police are now investigating the possibility of a large bomb-making operation.
