Bengaluru Tech Lists Pros and Cons of Working at Google: ‘Surrounded by Talent’, ‘Limited Scope’ | Trending news

A Bengaluru-based software engineer grabbed attention on social media after celebrating his third anniversary at Google with an engaging post. On X, Raj Vikramaditya, popularly known as Striver, listed the pros and cons of working at the tech giant, which garnered over 1,04,000 views on the platform.

In his post, Vikramaditya highlighted the “unbelievable” work-life balance, which is a hot topic on social media. He shared that employees can explore food, gyms, travel, spas, and parties. From codebase to perks, he listed several features of working with Google.

“Codebase: Once you dive into it, you’re in awe of the quality, design, and overall architecture. Surrounded by geniuses: Being around such talent pushes you to stay sharp and constantly improve. Impact: The work here runs into millions (or even billions). Additional benefits: On-call pay, coworker bonuses, spot bonuses β€” there’s always something extra,” he wrote.

In a list of cons, the techie mentioned “limited scope” because many employees don’t get the opportunity to work on “end-to-end features.” According to him, in order to process any project, employees have to take many approvals. “Too Many Approvals: Processes can feel slow, but at this scale, multiple layers of approvals are necessary to avoid risks like issues. Limited scope: Most teams don’t get to work on end-to-end features. Most of the infrastructure is pre-built, so unless you Not being on the core team, the learning curve may not be as steep,” he wrote.
