The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday released its second list of 20 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 2025. The list indicates significant changes with several sitting MLAs being dropped and Manish Sisodia contesting from Jangpura.
AAP released the first list of 11 candidates on November 29 which was finalized at a meeting of AAP’s political affairs committee chaired by party convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
Educationist Awadh Ojha, who recently joined the Aam Aadmi Party, has been nominated from the Patparganj seat of Sisodia in the current Assembly.
The list also includes the names of Jitender Singh Shanti (candidate from Shahdara) and Surinder Pal Singh Bittu (Timarpur), who recently quit the BJP and joined AAP.
Shanti has replaced incumbent Aam Aadmi Party MLA and Speaker in the outgoing Assembly Ramnivas Goyal, while Bittu has been nominated to replace Aam Aadmi Party chief whip Dilip Pandey in the House.
The Aam Aadmi Party had announced 11 candidates in its first list for the elections.
Elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are being held before February.
