Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Supreme Court Justice Suryakant on Saturday inaugurated and laid foundation stones of several projects under the Gujarat High Court. The projects are worth a total of Rs 133 crore, the state government said in a statement on Saturday.
Foundation laying of 21 new court buildings in High Court; Inauguration of additional administrative building; IT Cell Building; and a new recreation center at the Gujarat State Judicial Academy; Launch of eGujHC Vision Document Version 1.0 and High Court Newsletter ‘Nyaya Setu’; and virtual inauguration of digital hybrid hearing platform and e-filing platform for Negotiable Instrument (NI) cases — these were highlights of the event.
Reflecting on the High Court’s journey that began at Akashvani Bhawan in Navrangpura after Gujarat became a separate state in 1960, the Chief Minister highlighted the progress made in transforming Gujarat into a state-of-the-art state and adding modern facilities. The chief minister also said that the state government has significantly increased the financial allocation in the budget of the law department. The allocation for 2021-22 was Rs 1,698 crore, which has been increased to Rs 2,586 crore for 2024-25.
This increase shows the dedication of the government to strengthen the judiciary’s efficiency, infrastructure, digitization and manpower, he said.

Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Sunita Aggarwal emphasized that adequate infrastructure is essential to speed up and simplify the judicial process.
