The CBI has arrested the Group General Manager of Bridge and Roof Company (India) Limited, a PSU, from Bhubaneswar on charges of accepting Rs 10 lakh bribe, a statement said on Sunday.
The CBI has also arrested a director of a private company who allegedly paid the bribe and other people who were present there to exchange money, it said.
The CBI accused the senior officer of corruption in work orders and bill clearing.
It is alleged that he demanded 10 lakh rupees from the owner of the private company in the meeting on November 6 and promised to adjust the amount in the next billing.
“The CBI laid a trap on Saturday and arrested the accused GGM in Bhubaneswar while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from the accused director of the said company and recovered the bribe,” the statement said.
“During the raids, another private individual was also arrested in the role of co-conspirator in exchanging and facilitating undue benefits,” it said.
The CBI has registered a case against four persons including the arrested.
After the arrest, the CBI conducted searches at eight locations in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata, seizing “incriminating documents”, vehicles used in crime and digital devices, the statement said.
