Anna Paul’s Turkish Pasta is the new TikTok favorite, beating Gigi Hadid’s Vodka Pasta; Learn how to make it at home Food Wine News

TikTok isn’t just a treasure trove for memes and health hacks. Food enthusiasts often find inspiration from fellow users who share their classic recipes on the platform to create something special. A few years ago, Gigi Hadid’s rendition of Italian cult favorite Spicy Vodka Pasta went viral on social media, with netizens loving the simplicity and flavor that came with the recipe.

This year, Anna Paul’s version of Turkish pasta has not only come close in terms of ease and taste, but is a refreshing change to our culinary palettes. Mediterranean flavors come together in this deconstructed version of a traditional Turkish dish, manti, which are small beef dumplings coated in yogurt sauce.

Here’s how you can make this recipe at home:

Materials:

1 pound ground beef: Choose lean ground beef for lower fat content. Or you can use ground lamb.
8 ounces of pasta: Any kind will do, but whole-grain or chickpea pasta can add more fiber and nutrients.
Onion powder and paprika
1 cup Greek yogurt: Plain, full-fat Greek yogurt works well for the cream.
1 onion, chopped: For added flavor and texture.
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 Roma tomatoes – chopped
2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  • Cook the Pasta: Begin by cooking your pasta according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • Saute aromatics: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the cooked onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until brown, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. This should take about 8-10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and onion powder, and paprika
  • Mix Greek yogurt and chopped garlic in a bowl
  • Melt the butter and paprika in a microwave safe bowl or in a medium saucepan on the stove top
  • Serve and Garnish: Serve the pasta and toss it with ground beef, Greek yogurt, tomatoes, fresh parsley, and butter.
