20-year-old intern abused, threatened by Bengaluru autorickshaw driver, video goes viral | Trending news

On X Post, a 20-year-old college student in Bengaluru shared a video of a heated altercation with an auto-rickshaw driver. In the video, the driver can be seen and heard asking for Rs 580 and the student asking the driver to show the amount he asked for on the booking app. The student’s post has gone viral, accusing the driver of misbehaving and using racial slurs.

The student also claimed that the autorickshaw driver threatened to attack him outside the office. “Harassed and threatened by an auto driver from Bengaluru. Said he would beat me up whenever I left the office. And castigated him. He demanded Rs 200 more from somewhere. A 20-year-old college student recently returning from my internship,” the post read.

Sharing a screenshot of the payment, the youth further claimed that he had to pay Rs 500 to the driver after the driver was drunk and called his help. “He had to pay 500rs (400cash + 100upi) instead of 380rs (as shown on the app) so he left me and my friend alone as he called two of his drunk friends who beat us up. Scolding us continuously,” he wrote in another X post.

After the post came to light, Bengaluru police inquired about the incident. “Please DM your contact number and location of incident,” wrote the official handle of Bengaluru City Police.

Many users shared the same experience in the comments section. β€œThe same thing happened to my sister. Had to pay Rs 600 more to avoid any future problems,’ wrote one user. “Happened to me last year. One of the few times I took a tuktuk. The guy started asking for Rs 250 more than what the app showed,” commented another user.

A similar incident happened to me last year. The fare was 98 and the auto driver asked for 150. I repeat, he did not ask for it. He fought me for 30 minutes. I started recording him, and like in your video, he threatened to leave me where he picked me up,” said a third user.
