Maharashtra Government Formation Live Updates: With Devendra Fadnavis sworn in as Chief Minister to lead the new BJP-led Mahayuti government, the spotlight has now shifted to portfolio allocation in the Maharashtra Cabinet. Talks are said to be underway, Shiv Sena MLA Bharat Gogawle said Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has demanded an important home department from the BJP. Speaking ahead of a special three-day session of the Maharashtra Assembly today, Gogawle also said that the Cabinet expansion is likely between December 11 and 16.
What happens in a special session of Parliament? As Protem Speaker, BJP MLA Kalidas Kolumbakar will oversee the swearing-in of 288 newly elected MLAs and conduct the election of a new Assembly Speaker on Monday (December 9). This will be followed by a vote of confidence for the new grand coalition government followed by the Governor’s address to the joint sitting of both houses.
Who gets what in the Mahamantrimandal? The BJP, the largest component of the grand alliance, is expected to get 21-22 ministerial posts.
