In West Delhi, a man covers the murder of his mother, who opposes his love, as a robbery bid Delhi News

A 45-year-old woman was murdered in her home in West Delhi on Friday in what was initially part of a robbery. However, the police investigation soon took a twist when her younger son Sawan allegedly confessed to strangling Sulochana to death after a heated argument over his desire to marry a girl rejected by his mother.

When police arrived at the scene at 8:30 p.m., they found no signs of robbery except for the woman’s earrings. The police said that the property inside the house in Khyala was also intact and the valuables were intact, thus suspecting foul play related to the theft.

Sulochana’s husband died in 2019 and she is survived by two sons: Kapil, 26, who works as an accountant, and Sawan, 22, who drives a goods van.

The police have registered a murder case and started investigation.

They interrogated the family and neighbors and collected technical evidence. “The younger son’s conduct throughout the process was found to be questionable. After an in-depth exercise of local research and technical data collection, Sawan was asked specific and pointed questions. After continuous questioning, he broke down and confessed to the crime,’ said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer.

According to his statement, Kapil’s marriage was recently fixed, and Sawan had approached his mother to talk about getting married to a girl of his choice, police said.

Sawan told the police that Sulochana threatened to disinherit her while pursuing the relationship, which hurt her deeply. Investigators said Sawan, feeling betrayed by claiming that he had given all his earnings to his family, planned the murder.
