Chance of rain and snow in some places of Himachal on December 8-9 Chandigarh news

Due to a new western disturbance in the western Himalayan region, there is a possibility of rain or snow in some places of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday and Monday, the weather forecast division said on Saturday.

Scattered to widespread rain is likely across the state during these two days, while light to moderate rain or snowfall is likely at a few places over Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Kinnaur, Kangra, Shimla and Kullu districts, it said.

On Monday and Tuesday, there is a possibility of light rain at few places in Solan, Sirmaur, Una, Bilaspur, Mandi and Hamirpur districts and there is a possibility of light rain or snowfall at few places in central and high hilly areas till Tuesday.

The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘yellow’ warning for rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts for Sunday.

Thick fog is expected to occur in some parts of Bilaspur’s Bhakra Dam reservoir area and Mandi’s Balh Valley on Tuesday.

In various parts of the state, the minimum temperature has dropped by two to four degrees Celsius and the temperature has increased by three to four degrees below normal.

Tabo was minus 8.9 degrees, Kukumseri minus 6.6, Sumdo minus 2.9, Kalpa minus 1.6 and Bhuntar was the coldest place in the state at 0.4 degrees Celsius.

Water pipes have frozen in some parts of the upper hills, while tribal areas in the highlands have emerged from severe cold wave conditions with the mercury hovering between minus 8 and minus 12 degrees Celsius.

There was no significant change in the maximum temperature, with Una recording a high of 25°C.
