A physical education instructor of Kolkata’s Scottish Church College has been suspended after a student accused him of harassment. The student claimed that the teacher sent obscene messages and threatened to ruin her future if she reported. According to the source, the victim filed a complaint on November 25 before the incident. According to sources, he was there only after showing the reason and no action was taken after that.
According to the student, the accused coach Sameer Roy had been sending abusive messages to the girl student since his admission in 2003. According to the source, the girl would receive sexually abusive chats and even if she objected, he would keep sending the messages.
The students alleged that the authorities tried to hide their grievances.
After no response, a group of frustrated students staged a protest on Thursday demanding the resignation of the principal and assistant principal.
After the protest, the college administration issued a notice suspending the teacher. According to the college administration, the allegations are serious and action will be taken only after confirmation.
According to sources, the accused has been working in the Scottish Church since 2003.
This is not the first time a complaint has been filed against this person. A similar incident happened in July and the authorities were informed but no action was taken, today it got out of hand and students started protesting after the messages spread,” said a college student on condition of anonymity.
The incident has sparked anger among the students and professors of the campus.
