The Surat Crime Branch arrested a person on Wednesday on the charge of submitting a fake medical certificate to the court to secure bail for an inmate of the Surat Central Jail, police said. Shovit Singh Thakur is among those arrested.
According to the police, it was discovered that he was operating the hospital illegally without taking any qualified degree as the hospital was not registered in the government records.
It is said that Adil Salim Noorani (41), a resident of Surat, who was arrested along with 18 other people in October 2020 with Mephedrone (MD) drug worth Rs 1 crore, who tried to help Thakur. the police
For the past four years, Noorani has been trying to get bail, but the Surat district court has rejected her plea several times.
According to police sources, last month, Noorani had applied for interim bail in the Gujarat High Court as his mother Munira Noorani was undergoing treatment and was advised to undergo angioplasty. The medical treatment certificate presented in the court was signed in the name of Dr. Dilip Tadvi of Surat, but the investigators of Surat Crime Branch found that the certificate was made by Thakur, a resident of Pandesara, who runs a trauma center in Bamroli area.
Police said the hospital was not registered in any government records and during questioning, Thakur produced an “Electro Homeopathy” certificate, which the police sent to the Gujarat Medical Council for verification.
Surat Crime Branch Police Inspector SN Parmar said, “We contacted Dr Tadvi who in his statement said that he had not given such a certificate and was not aware of any patient named Munira Noorani. He said that someone might have used his name in the fake medical certificate.” Based on Dr Tadvi’s statement, Surat Crime Branch has registered a case against Adil Noorani, his mother Munira Noorani and Thakur.
They were prosecuted under the provisions of the Indian Code of Justice, Parmar added, ‘Thakur made a fake ticket of Dr. Tadvi and signed it, we will take Noorani and her mother into custody in the coming days.
